The Communication Director for the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP for the Akyem Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern region, Nana Kwasi Bediatuo has stated emphatically that Menzgold was operating just like the banker to banker lottery.
According to him just as there is a registered National lottery in Ghana, some citizens prefer to rather engage in the banker to banker lottery so as there are several registered banking institutions in Ghana yet they preferred transacting with Menzgold.
On the Susubiribi Morning show on Radio 1FM 100.7MHZ, the vociferous communicator said government mist not be dragged into the Menzgold issue since the designated agencies in ensuring proper banking systems in the country issued several warnings to the managers of the bank and even to the extent of advising Ghanaians not to do business with the bank.
However, the warnings from the Security and Exchange Commission, Bank of Ghana, Minerals Commission etc to the managers of the bank were not adhered to as well as the advise to the general public not to transact business with Menzgold all hit deaf ears and he does not think how relevant it is to drag the president into this issue.
Nana Kwasi Bediatuo said Menzgold got numerous customers because of the huge interest rate and Ghanaians were caught in the sweet interest rate.
The once most progressing banking institution, has been asked to stop operation and the customers are wondering where and how to get their money back.
